When artists and photographers make an image, it is a reflection of an instant in time. Whether the image is a single scene, a composite, or a collage; whatever the technique used; regardless of the equipment – simple or complex, the image is in the past once we have made it. When we capture the instant of the image via the camera we may not realize that we have influenced the passage of time by our actions. We must respect the time, the place, the situation and the permission we have taken to capture, then make the image. The image reflects our view of the situation at the passage of time. It will not be the same if we return, even after a short interlude.
